The congressional campaign of incumbent Republican Michele Bachmann says she has raised more than $4 million in her bid to continue representing Minnesota’s 6th District. That's more than any US House candidate in Minnesota history has raised by the November election, let alone by July. Bachmann raised $1.7 million dollars in April, May and June. That nearly doubles the funds raised by her opponent, Democrat Tarryl Clark in the same three month period. Minnesota's 6th District covers all or most of Anoka, Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, Washington and Wright counties.

Clark's campaign says she raised about $910,000 of that total in the second quarter of 2010. They did not say how much campaign cash the Democratic state senator from St. Cloud has already spent or how much she has left.
The campaign touted Clark's success with small donors, with support from 24,000 people. They say her tally so far puts her financially ahead of any previous Minnesota congressional challengers at this stage of the campaign. Bachmann's campaign has not yet released her second-quarter figures. At the end of March, she had about $1.5 million in the bank.
Northstar Officials Working to Extend Service to St. Cloud
07/07/2010 - 10:45 AM

The Northstar Corridor Development Authority is "working hard" to get federal money that would punch the Northstar Commuter Rail through to St. Cloud. Tim Yantos, Executive Director of the Authority, says they will likely soon apply for a Small Starts federal grant. If secured, the grant would provide up to $75 million of the estimated $150 million project.
Currently, the Northstar line goes from Big Lake to Target Field in Minneapolis. If the line is extended, proposed stops would be added in Becker and St. Cloud. A recent survey administered to 1,700 Northstar riders and folks who live along the rail line found that 79% of the respondents support government funding to extend rail service to St. Cloud.

Average Weather Stats Reported for June
07/06/2010 - 11:45 AM

June 2010 will go down in the books as a wild severe weather month in Minnesota, but St. Cloud statistics were near normal. The 20 tornadoes reported throughout the state in the month of June steered clear of St. Cloud. According to St. Cloud State Meteorology Professor Bob Weisman, the total rainfall in St. Cloud last month was 4.92 inches, just barely above normal. Since the snow melted in mid-March, St. Cloud has picked up 8.43 inches of rain, almost two inches less than normal.
Weisman says the rain wasn’t always heavy over St. Cloud, but it was frequent. There were 16 days with measurable rainfall in June, four days short of the 20 day record set in 1914. But there still hasn’t been a day in 2010 with at least an inch of rain in St. Cloud.

She had gone swimming more than a week ago. Katharine's mother, Susan Cornell Wilkes, is married to Jim Klobuchar, Amy Klobuchar's father. Wilkes says her daughter was an actress, a painter and taking interior design classes. Susan says the medical examiner's office told her there's no indication of foul play or suicide.
